Haag-Streit USA launches METIS 3D Digital Heads-Up Module at AAO 2025
Haag-Streit USA is pleased to announce the launch of the METIS 3D Digital Heads-Up Module (METIS HU) at the annual American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) meeting in Orlando, October 18 – 20. METIS HU expands Haag-Streit’s trusted METIS 900 ophthalmic microscope system with an integrated digital 3D visualization platform, delivering a state-of-the-art solution for an enhanced surgical experience.
Enhanced surgical experience
Incorporating advanced 3D 4K camera technology, METIS HU combines a 55” 3D 4K monitor with a compact floor stand to maximize clinical working space. By replacing traditional eyepieces with a heads-up view, surgeons benefit from better visualization, improved ergonomics, enhanced teaching opportunities, and a flexible digital pathway.
Visualization
METIS HU supports ophthalmic surgery with stunning detail and clarity. The high image resolution, combined with a large 3D display, delivers a greater depth-of-field, together with a 3D stereo 4K camera that can constantly adapt to light conditions. This results in enhanced vision, facilitating more accurate manipulation of delicate intraocular structures.
Ergonomics
METIS HU is designed with long-term surgical well-being in mind. By allowing the surgeon to sit in an upright position and gain a clear view to the screen without excessive head movements, METIS HU can reduce the neck and back strain that can occur when using traditional oculars for lengthy periods.
Digital productivity & workflow
Sharing the rock-solid foundation of the METIS 900 ophthalmic microscope system, METIS HU puts a wealth of productivity features at the surgeons’ fingertips – such as a motorized glaucoma tilt. METIS HU expands these features with a digital quick zoom, an integrated image inverter, and image-optimizing filters.
Moreover, with a convenient conversion process, METIS HU gives surgeons the freedom to benefit from 3D digital visualization with the freedom to revert to the familiar ocular setup when required.
Mike Luley, Director of Global Strategy and Business Development, Visualization at Haag-Streit, said: “We are thrilled to bring METIS HU to the US market. This launch underlines our commitment to spanning analog-to-digital solutions, providing surgeons with a modern, connectivity-focused platform with a simple pathway to HU technology – without losing any of the functionality that they trust.”
“We are delighted to showcase the next phase of our surgical imaging portfolio at the AAO and welcome visitors to booth #1908 for a personal tour.”
